1. He who knows other men is discerning; he who knows himself is intelligent. He who overcomes others is strong; he who overcomes himself is mighty1. He who is satisfied with his lot is rich; he who goes on acting2 with energy has a (firm) will.

2. He who does not fail in the requirements of his position, continues long; he who dies and yet does not perish, has longevity3.

【译文】

了解别人则智，敏慧自知则明。战胜别人的有力，战胜自己的强。知足就是富有，坚持力行就是有志，不离失他所维系、归依的道的可以长久，身虽死而事业精神流传就是长生。
